DIE!DIE!BABY DIE!

Posted by iriwij on July 25, 2008

The greatness of every song lies in the wilderness it can carry u to by its totality. Some may carry u to your childhood, to your mum’s nipples, to your first love, to your first kiss, to your first fuck, or to your first sin. But, some can carry u even farther. Not to your past, but to some mysterious, terrifying, yet fascinating unreal reality. That is exactly the grandeur which I felt in Wonderbra’s song, “die!die! baby die!”

The song recalls the experience I have had from The Doors’s, “break on through to the other side.” Both of them are short songs. But, in their case, it doesn’t circumcise the greatness. On the contrary, the brilliance is constituted by it. Well maybe “die!die! baby die!” doesn’t have a lyric with an equal poetical charm like that of The Doors, but still, a song must be measured in its totality, not in its parts.

Wonderbra’s three new songs!

Posted by iriwij on July 25, 2008

Freedom is the state of being of every artist, so no wonder that u can never constraint her works in a uniform scheme. The same rule applies to one of my fave bands, Wonderbra. Different from its previous shamanic single, “die!die! baby die!”, the new songs drive me to face a personality; a female one. The songs place me as if I was in this forlorn theatre where there’re only me and her, yet there’s an absolute gap between us; she was the performer and I was her only spectator.

Despite that fact, you need to know that I’m a very demanding spectator. If the story performed is just about a girl who is madly-in-love-need-fuck-get-dump, I’ll go away. But, what I’m seeing is a Greek-like tragedy with quality. It’s about one woman who is struggling to get away from the phantom that has haunted each woman since the day she was planned to be born into this world. Virginia Woolf gave the phantom an eloquent name, “the angel in the house.”

The woman is still struggling; I can hear her groaning, yelling, and cursing the fucking angel. But, the angel just keeps smiling, as if there’s nothing important; nothing significant in her distress. My heroine surely won’t take it, since the matter involved is deep; it concerns the very meaning of her existence. The angel is forcing her to stay on surface; blocking her path to her own essence. So you see that it has nothing to do with hatred. She doesn’t really hate it. She just wants to dig it deep.

Unfortunately, there’s no other way, because the angel is abso-fucking-lutely dull. She must kill it. She’s using all her might just for one fatal blow. Yet, there’s no blood; the angel is still smiling maliciously, keeping its composure; maybe waiting for her to get tired herself, and finally shut up. Slowly, the heroine starts to show the limit of her energy. After all, she’s just a human being. Her voice becomes weaker; soon it’ll be the end. But, even though I know for sure that my heroine will lose this battle, I can hear a faint whisper coming through her breath… ”this desperation is because of you!” … Some might think that it’s only some silly last words from a dying person, but for me, it show a determined will, and because of that, there’s a possibility for a hope; a hope that the heroine is just resting temporally; a hope that someday, she will wake up strongly and achieve her glory.

9 songs

Posted by iriwij on July 25, 2008

i’m not a good reviewer; i easily forget ’bout d details, since I dont really care about it. But i can’t resist the urge to share my experience with u guys who might be interested in a very good movie.

every movie is the sum of the scenes. usually they are connected by a reason. sometimes the connection is forward-type, sometimes it’s bacward-type. either way, that’s why we could understand it.

but, there are some movies who dont have an unifying reason inside it. there are only reasons, each of them is embedded uniquely in each scene. We must understand them in their separateness. I believe my friend Male (mikhail, check my friend list!) can tell u more ’bout it.

right now i want to talk bout’ the third kind of movies which dont have any reason at all. It’s made not to be undertood, but merely to be enjoyed. in this category we can distinguish between two classes of movies. some of it are meant to be enjoyed only once; it cant stick in our mind and imagination. In this class, we can say that almost all blue films are its members.

on the contrary, the movies in the other class have the ability to be recalled each time we meet sublimity. Its joy isn’t vanished in the toilet. I believe 9 songs is in this class.

the story is not about anything. there’s a lovely couple who has some great fucking. it’s not an usual movie-fuck; they fuck as if it’s the only purpose of life. There are also some great musics sung at the concert by some great artist. Each song marks the period of the fucking-session. Sometimes, randomly, views on antartica interupt the movement of the scenes; coitus interuptus or the tao of sex?

What and where is the connection? my mind can find nothing. but i’m addicted to it, i can’t have enough. when the movie over, i feel that i’m losing something valuable, something which can’t be priced and therefore can’t be bought.

It’s hard to understand why. maybe those are the only ingredients that we need to enjoy life……perhaps those are the secrets to immortality…i dont know. maybe u can tell me.
